Recent work: hand painted restaurant branding - brick wall graphic lettering in San Diego
At a new Luna Grill restaurant in San Diego, your Big City sign painter was recently brought in to apply the client’s branding message onto a whitewashed brick interior wall.
As usual, a paper pattern was drawn and perforated from the client-supplied layout to transfer the full-size design to the surface. It made for a nice rainy day project…
On site, the pattern was taped up in position and dusted with charcoal to transfer the design to the surface. By the way, check out how deep the grout areas are between the bricks — I sure did! As is typical with all the rough surface hand painted work I do, those areas get painted too, and it must appear as a solid piece, to make the graphic appear as if it’s printed onto the surface. This takes time and concentration, but the reward is the successfully completed project.
Finally, here is a detail shot of the hand painted restaurant branding - brick wall graphic lettering. It’s all fun and games until I get to the edge of the brick face and need to brush the return (the top, bottom, or sides), the deep area of the grout, then the next brick’s return!
You might be thinking about getting this kind of project done, Do you know where to start? I can tell you - contact me, Paul Borne (president of Big City Signs) to find out more.
