Restaurant branding case study - TGI Fridays - promise wall hand painted graphics

Big City Signs has been part of the crew creating the atmosphere inside TGI Fridays restaurants in California for years now. Hand painting the slogan, “In here, it’s always Friday”, and more recently providing a distressed look “FRIDAYS” ghost sign on a brick interior wall, has been our task from Union City in Northern California to locations throughout Southern California.

For a branding project, consistency is absolutely necessary. Also, with the tight schedule, we got these done on time for the client.

The design of the wall and proximity to people’s hands made the need to hand paint this graphic clear. Computer cut vinyl could be picked and peeled from the wall. The slats have slight variations in depth, too, so vinyl crossing across the slats would simply not look as integrated (better to say, would stand out like a sore thumb!)

So here are some examples over the years of our work on these projects. Yes, they look pretty much the same… and that’s the point - this is professional hand painted signage!

The client has also recently branded some restaurants with a hand painted “ghost sign” graphic. Originally, ghost signs is a name given to worn, old fading signs. The use of ghost signs in restaurant branding is becoming more popular, to create a funky, established feel.

Here are some examples of hand painted TGI Fridays ghost sign branding we’ve done:
