Recent work - Innovation Office Park hand painted graphics project

Recently hand painted this building signage for the Innovation Office Park in Irvine - Orange County CA. This is the sales building, where (in a small way) potential tenants can experience the wonderful working environment and finishes offered. Since the exterior walls have a mild stucco finish, these environmental graphics must be hand painted by a professional sign painter… (well, at least I have one sellable skill!)

Back in the 80s, one of my first sign painting jobs included painting tenant logos on concrete tilt-up surfaces for tenants of the boss’s clients. Seems like things have come full circle.

Here is the story of the projects’ progress…

The building… (also known as the blank canvas!)

First, the paper patterns — where the design is drawn out full size then those lines are perforated with tiny holes and powdered color (as in snap line powder) is pushed through to transfer the design to the surface.
(There’s a short video showing the paper pattern process at this link)

Working in the upper area, I painted the larger letters…

Then, of course, it was time to do the lower area, the hand painted logo graphics. Video:

There are a LOT of leaves to do…

Here is the completed hand painted sign.
