Six school murals IN ONE JOB - Ward Elementary School in Downey CA

Recently I was given the task of providing new murals and graphics at Ward Elementary School in Downey CA. The school wanted to celebrate their Blue Ribbon School award and Distinguished School award along with some name and mascot graphics. They also got a unique Character Counts mural. Here’s the project …

First in the series was this Wildcats mascot mural. It really dresses up the blank wall in a high visibility area.

Following that, I moved on to the big work - a couple of 10ft round hand painted award logos.

First a National Blue Ribbon award. Very detailed work, so it took a few days.

Next, another hand painted 10ft round award logo - this time, the California Distinguished School award…

Then it was on to the outside of the school - a couple of hand painted murals for the school name with printed award panels…

Finally, a Character Counts display, a mural of sorts… but on that brick surface a hand painted mural would not look great. Instead, I used multiple panels of lightweight aluminum composite with painted and computer cut vinyl graphics. This really pops, I think!

You might be thinking about getting this kind of project done, Do you know where to start? I can tell you - contact me, Paul Borne (president of Big City Signs) to find out more.
